Fully automatic 8-step battery charger with 20 A charging current.

The car battery charger is an 8-step vehicle battery charger that is suitable for charging and maintenance charging of 12 volt lead-acid batteries (batteries) with liquid electrolyte (WET), maintenance-free lead-acid batteries (MF), gel electrolyte (GEL) or electrolyte absorbing mats (AGM).

Select the desired charging program (Normal, AGM, Frost, Maintenance or Night) and the microprocessor-controlled car battery charger handles everything fully automatically until the charging cycle is completed and the batteries are maintained. The German-language display is easy to understand and convenient to use.

Suitable for continuous charging:

For continuous charging, the ring-eyelet cables are permanently mounted on the vehicle battery to be charged. The vehicle battery charger is connected to the ring-eyelet cable via a quick-connect plug. This is very practical, as the ring-eyelet cables can remain permanently connected to the battery.

Fast charging:

The battery charger enables a maximum fast charging current of 20 amps up to 85% charge. Therefore, charging takes much less time than with a conventional charger with a 20A nominal current, which, due to its design, has a declining charging current.

Camping function:

As soon as power is drawn from the vehicle battery with the engine off, the charging process is programmed to begin. Permanent installation in the vehicle electrical system is possible.

Night mode:

Quiet charging thanks to reduced charging power with reduced fan function.

Memory:

After an interruption in the mains power, the automatic battery charger starts in the last program used when the power is reconnected.

Startability display:

The vehicle is startable again after charging step 3. A message is shown on the display.

Modern safety technology:

• Reverse polarity protection, overheating protection, overload protection, and short-circuit protection protect you and the device from incorrect operation.

Eight charging steps:

STEP 1 "PREPARATION" BREAKING UP THE SULPHATION

Detects batteries affected by sulfate deposits Batteries and removes these deposits using pulsating current and voltage to restore optimal charging capacity.

STEP 2 "SOFT START"

Tests the battery's charging capacity and only starts the charging process with 50% charging current until approximately 12.5 volts are reached if the result is positive. This prevents damage to the battery and the charger.

STEP 3 "FAST CHARGE" FAST CHARGE PROCESS UP TO 85%

After a successful test, the device charges the battery with maximum current until 14.4V is reached (in the "Cold/AGM" program, 14.7V is selected with the "MODE" button), to a charge level of approximately 85%. In an emergency, a discharged battery is sufficiently charged after charging step 3 to start an engine again, even in cold weather.

STEP 4 "RESIDUAL CHARGE" CHARGING PROCESS UP TO 95%

Device charges with decreasing current at constant voltage up to a charge of 95%.

STEP 5 CAPACITY TEST

Tests the battery for charge retention for 3 minutes. The device assesses whether the battery can hold the voltage.

STEP 6 "MAINTENANCE" REFRESH FUNCTION 100% (PRESS "MODE" BUTTON BEFORE STARTING)

The "Maintenance" function causes a controlled outgassing of the battery acid at 16 volts and up to 3 A. This ensures full charge, increasing the battery's service life and performance.

STEP 7 "MAINTAIN" MAINTAIN CHARGE (100%)

Maintenance charge at a constant battery voltage of 13.7 volts with a low charging current. If the "Maintenance" charging program has not been selected, 100% charge is achieved in this charging step. The vehicle battery charger operates as a maintenance charger from step 7 onwards.

STEP 8 "PULSE" PULSE CHARGING (95-100%)

After 10 days and/or when the voltage drops below 95%, 100% of the charge is restored with charging pulses and sulfation is prevented.

IUoU charging method

The IUoU charging method combines constant current, constant voltage, and trickle charging.

In the first charging phase, charging occurs at a constant current limited by the charger. Compared to pure constant voltage charging, this limits the otherwise high initial charging current. When the selected final charging voltage is reached at the battery, the system switches from current to voltage regulation.

In the second charging phase, charging continues at a constant voltage, with the charging current automatically decreasing as the battery charge level increases. Once the characteristic charging voltage is reached, the Dino KRAFTPAKET battery charger automatically switches to trickle charging. During maintenance charging (pulsed and voltage monitored below the gassing voltage), the self-discharge of the battery is counteracted.

With this charging method, the Dino KRAFTPAKET battery charger is suitable for continuously charging lead-acid batteries (AGM, GEL, EFB, WET, MF, lead-acid batteries).
