Poultry: The powder is rubbed into the feathers and then the bird is scalded (immersed in almost boiling water, approx. 70°C). The feathers can then be pulled out without great effort, or even partially stripped off. A short scalding is sufficient.
Pigs: The bird is rubbed with the scalding pitch and boiling water is poured over it. The bristles can then be scraped off.
